What Is Block Therapy?

Watch Renee share a simple, heartfelt overview of Block Therapy and how this gentle fascia practice can support breath, posture, and deeper connection within the body.

If you're new here, this is a beautiful place to begin and get a feel for the intention behind the work.

Block Therapy

A gentle way to listen deeper to the body through fascia care.

Sometimes the places we hold the most tension are the places we’ve forgotten to breathe into.

Block Therapy is a self-directed practice that invites the body to soften and open through mindful pressure, diaphragmatic breathing, and a simple wooden tool called the Block Buddy.

Fascia—the web of connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, organ, and cell—can become restricted over time. From posture patterns, stress, injury, or the natural weight of living through midlife transitions. These restrictions limit flow: blood, oxygen, even emotional ease.

Block Therapy gently decompresses these layers. No forcing. No rushing. Just consistent, compassionate attention that allows the tissue to melt, create space, and restore connection.

Sometimes the tightest places hold the deepest wisdom.
When we give them warmth and time, something softens.

What Women Often Notice

  • Softer posture and graceful movement
  • Deeper, easier breath
  • Release of stored tension and old emotions
  • Radiant energy and vitality returning
  • A profound sense of coming home to the body

Created by Deanna Hansen, this method blends therapy, gentle exercise, and meditative presence—all in one daily practice.

The 2 Sacred Rules of Block Therapy

  1. Breath is Your Guide – As long as you're breathing in a controlled, comfortable way, you're feeding and healing your cells and fascia. If it's too intense to breathe freely, ease off (e.g., on the bed instead of floor). Honor your edge with compassion.
  2. Minimum 3 Minutes per Position – Give the tissue time to melt and transform. Stay longer if breath allows—let your body lead.

Pain = restriction of blood + oxygen. Lean in gently with the breath, allowing melting and transformation.

The Block Therapy Sampler is a 9-part instructional video series on full-body fascia decompression. It introduces the principles of releasing compressed fascia and guides you through simple positions and strengthening exercises using only a towel. The focus is improving cellular oxygenation, reducing restriction, and creating noticeable relief in the hips, lower legs, shoulders, posture, and breath—often within minutes. Many people report eased stiffness and pain, better posture and range of motion, improved digestion, and greater body awareness after completing the short series.
